Lugano - Venice one way
The owner of this beautiful Venetian-style villa began the renovation of his home and turned to our firm to perform the coatings of the upholstered, for the draperies and the restoration of some antiques. After an inspection aimed at viewing the work that our workshop was to perform and a discussion of the work that the client was planning to do, we obtained the supervision of the rest of the renovation. Since we were already in the executive phase, we provided the study of the plumbing for the new kitchen, the replacement of the old windows with new fixtures made to measure, and the complete renovation of the important staircase by cladding it entirely in solid oak.
For the entrance, paving was designed in gres like marble with large slabs laid in a checkerboard pattern and, for dramatic effect, a large antique crystal chandelier was laid in its center, topping a grand piano. For the rest of the flooring, however, a parquet by Corà oak planking. Consistent with the style of the house, the finishes on all walls are Venetian stucco.
On the main floor, next to the master bedroom , the new owners' bathroom was created from what was previously the servants' room. In keeping with the Venetian style of the house, the wall tiling is porcelain stoneware Impero series by Ceramiche Settecento with gold decorations, as are the faucets and shower stall details. The untiled wall is finished in micro stucco, and a large mirror above the washbasin cabinet with a top in mineralmarble enlarges the space more. The other pre-existing bathroom, as well as the ground-floor bathroom, have been redone with the same coatings and finishes.
We also took care of the completion of the lighting fixtures, some of them salvaged from antique stores and others, such as the asymmetrical drop chandelier by Sylcom which adorns the trumpet of the grand staircase, are classically shaped but newly executed.
The furniture previously in the villa was kept fully restored and polished in our atelier, which also took care of all the seats (original and valuable pieces) that were traditionally upholstered to new and covered using various matching damasks.
The "old" part of the house has been eliminated; with the renovation, we emphasized heights and lightened spaces, while still keeping, through details in finishes and renovated furnishings, the richness and romanticism of the Venetian style.
